China Glaze - When Stars Collide (Hologlam Collection)

Hey guys!

So here is one of the three Hologlam Collection polishes I showed in my China Glaze madness haul. I already wore Strap On Your Moonboots as well but didn't have the chance to take photos of it.

Three coats with top coat. You will need lots of light for this to show its holo effect enough. It looks great in sunlight. Otherwise it just looks like a dark, plummy red. I like it, but I wish the holo effect were stronger in lower light conditions.

[Swatch] ANNY Desert Glam Limited Edition nail polishes she's amazing, rock your nails, after dinner show and blue hypnosis

Hey guys!

So ANNY jumped on the sand style/liquid sand/pixie dust/whatchamacallit bandwagon and released a collection of eight mini polishes with that finish. I got half of them so let's check it out!

she's amazing

And ain't that what you always think when you see my name pop up Two coats without top coat to conserve the intended effect. Not exactly my color, but it looks nice. Just not so much on me.

rock your nails

Two coats without top coat to conserve the intended effect. This looks like a dupe for strict by P2. Clash of the Polishes, anyone?

after dinner show

Two coats without top coat to conserve the intended effect. Easily my favorite in the bunch, I love the ocean green color.

blue hypnosis

Two coats without top coat to conserve the intended effect. Has to be my second favorite. This blue is incredibly vibrant and beautiful. It looks a bit duochrome in the bottle (very faintly) but it's a pure blue once you apply it.

[Clash of the Polishes] Anny - the answer is love vs OPI - Every Month Is Oktoberfest

Hey guys!

It's been a while since I last opened the arena, huh? Well, today's showdown definitely requires a few closer looks, so let's get to it!

Can you tell them apart? I have the answer is love on middle and pinky finger, and Every Month Is Oktoberfest on pointer and ring finger. Let me show you again...

You can see that the answer is love's base color and shimmer is more on the blue and purple side, while Every Month Is Oktoberfest tends to be more red in those respects. As you can see, the differences aren't glaringly obvious. I'd say go for your personal preference - as always! - and just decide whether you like a darker, more blue or a slightly lighter, more red base and shimmer.

Zoya - Storm and Blaze

Hey guys!

I wore this a little while back. Double holo hammer!

Two coats of both, with top coat. I had expected these to show more of their holo goodness... Especially Blaze disappointed me in this respect. Still, I liked the combo.

[Swatch] P2 Limited Edition nailtini nail polish sets

Hey guys!

P2 recently did a collection inspired by cocktails (I suppose) and well, if there's glitter you can be approximately 97.6% sure I'll buy it. So here we go.
shiny manhattan

Yellow cream on its own (two to three coats needed), red and gold glitter in red-tinted base on its own (one coat), both combined; all with top coat.

flashy swimming pool

Green (Of course I mean blue, why the hell did I write green?) Blue cream on its own (two coats), green and silver glitter in green-yellowish-tinted base on its own (one coat), both combined; all with top coat.

brilliant cosmopolitan

Pink cream on its own (one coat), purple and silver glitter in purple-tinted base on its own (one to two coats), both combined; all with top coat.

[Swatch] China Glaze - Razzle Me Dazzle Me (over various) and Polarized (by itself, poor lonely thing)

Hey guys!

Today's post is dedicated to ewlyn! She requested to see China Glaze's Razzle Me Dazzle Me and Polarized. I'm more than happy to comply, so here we go!

Razzle Me Dazzle Me

First picture: over essie - Tea & Crumpets, thick coat/two coats on pointer and ring finger, thin/one coat on middle and pinky finger
Second and third picture: over essie - Penny Talk (pointer and ring finger), over P2 - mocca splash (middle and pinky finger)

Basically, you have to play around with it a little to see how much glitter you want. I think a thin to medium coat are nice, I wouldn't necessarily want a thick coat. It looks a bit too busy for my liking. It's definitely easy to pick up lots of glitter though - no fishing required! So as I said, just play around with it a bit.

Polarized

Two coats. I recommend tons of top coat if you dislike gritty textures. The picture isn't really doing this justice. It really looks much better in person. Really silver and just beautiful, if you ask me. A nightmare to remove, though.

Dear ewlyn, I hope this post meets your expectations! Thanks for requesting to see these beauties :)

[Swatch] P2 - green palm tree

Hey guys!

Today we're looking at an amazingly beautiful polish with a really boring name. Let's get right into it!

Two coats with top coat. OH MY GOD GUYS. Do you see that? I admit, without shame, that I bought a second bottle once I'd seen this applied and live. Wow. Now I just wish the name were a little less unoriginal...

Are you as blown away as I am?

[Swatch] P2 - tangerine twist

Hey guys!

Here we go with the orange-flavored hard candy of the bunch! Just kidding, but it does remind me of that. So there.

Two coats with top coat. I have to say I feel like this one is the least flattering on me, again with the strong orange tone. But well. I still think it's a beautiful color.

Are you sick of my candy comparisons yet?

[Swatch] P2 - lemon drop

Hey guys!

I warned you, didn't I? ;) Anyway, here we go with the next polish in line. I think the name is really cute ^_^

Two coats with top coat. It doesn't provide 100% coverage at two coats, but then again, maybe it wouldn't really get to that ever. Two coats is fine with me, though. It really reminds me of lemon-flavored hard candy.

Yay or nay?

[Tag] 25 Things You Don't Know About Me

Hey guys!

Something different for today - I snagged this from Marina. Hope you enjoy!

1. I am absolutely not a morning person.
2. My middle fingers bend to the side at the first knuckle.
3. I'm 5' 9'' or 178 cm tall.
4. I like both Star Trek and Star Wars. And science fiction in general.
5. I couldn't make plants stay alive if my life depended on it.
6. I have two middle names.
7. I/my eyes have central heterochromia. My eyes used to be one color only and I have no idea what happened.
8. My cheeks are almost always reddened.
9. I get too warm really easily.
10. I neither drink coffee, nor tea (sometimes I prepare myself a cup when I'm sick), nor alcohol (except on New Year's Eve and my birthday, then I'll have some sparkling wine).
11. My last name often gets misspelled while my first name often gets me mistaken for a man.
12. I love everything sugary and haven't yet come across something to eat that I would consider too sweet.
13. I love organizing things (e. g. by color, by name, etc.), it gives me a deep sense of satisfaction.
14. I'm horrible at keeping my space tidy.
15. I'm secretly the person that corrects all your grammar, spelling and pronounciation mistakes in their head. I don't want to be a jerk though, so I just keep my mouth shut/fingers still.
16. Being at the doctor's makes me nervous.
17. I usually can't eat anything before I've been up for at least about half an hour; the smell of food will only make me gag.
18. I used to love drawing and even went to art school for a very short amount of time.
19. I usually don't get nervous about things until just before they are going to happen, but then it can get so bad that I will feel nauseous.
20. If I have to sneeze but it won't come out, looking into a bright light (sun, lamp, ...) will trigger the sneeze for me.
21. I don't like the scent of lavender, but I love that of lilac.
22. The smell of penicillin makes my stomach lurch.
23. My smallest toe is extremely small compared to the other four. The three in the middle are almost the same size, but the smallest is really tiny.
24. I have a very varied taste in music.
25. I am horrible at anything related to math. My brain just doesn't work that way; I get by in day-to-day life though.

I forgot to say - if you wanna do this, too, consider yourself tagged by me! :)

[Swatch] P2 - flirtin' purple

Hey guys!

This polish comes from the same LE as hot berry, called Summer Attack. It was the only one I got, originally, until I got sucked in by other people and my OCD tendencies. Anyway, let's chance a look at this interesting shade.

Two coats with top coat. Funny enough, I'm not too sure if I really like this. I like how it looks when the blue shimmer is well visible; not so much when it isn't.

Thoughts? Also, be prepared for the other three polishes coming up in the next days :)

[Haul] China Glaze madness

Hey guys!

I had placed an online shopping ban on myself for the month of March and when April 1 finally hit I went a little crazy on Petra's Nailstore (not an affiliate link, just for your convenience). And I blame Elena for all of it except the holos, just so you know. Well. Here's the result of my craziness.

Glitz'N Pieces Collection: Bling It On, Glitz'N Pieces, Grafitti Glitter, Mosaic Madness, Razzle Me Dazzle Me

Holographic Collection: Infra Red, Strap On Your Moonboots, When Stars Collide

Prismatic Collection: Polarized

[Swatch] Catrice Limited Edition Candy shock nail polishes I Scream: Ice Cream! and Play It Blue

Hey guys!

This is the pastel spring collection from Catrice for this year, I guess. Here we go with my two nail polish picks.

I Scream: Ice Cream!

Three coats with top coat. My nails and these polishes will not become friends. The ridges on my nails make getting this to smooth out a real piece of work, hence three coats. Coverage would be good at two already, but to cover up the ridges I needed three. If you have smooth nails, two coats will probably suffice. This has pink shimmer - in the bottle, it gets obvious once you tilt it at a certain angle, but on the nail you don't see much of anything anymore. I picked this up thinking it was a simple cream polish...

Play It Blue

Four coats without top coat. Just as with I Scream: Ice Cream! (god, I hate that name), the high number of coats was necessary to get this to even out on my really ridgy nails. If you have smooth nails, two coats will probably suffice. I'm wearing this today (April 2) and I only needed three coats this time. It really depends a little on how thick your coats are and how careful you are with applying them. I really like the color and the rubbery/matt finish, so I'm a little unhappy about it being such a diva to apply.

What are you willing to do for a pretty color?

[Swatch] essence trend edition Floral Grunge nail polishes

Hey guys!

Today I have a post for you that is a bit longer than what I've been doing these past few months. All swatches here are WITHOUT top coat since this trend edition has five nail polishes with five different finishes. So let's get right into it!

Be Flowerful

Two coats without top coat. I'd say this is a soft coral with pink tones. Pink enough that I can wear it without fearing it looks too orange.

Lily Bloom

Two coats without top coat. In the bottle, this is a white with pinky-coral-yellow shimmer. Unfortunately, the shimmer is almost impossible to capture. I tilted the bottle this way and that and had no luck. It looks mostly white on the nail, too. I wish the beautiful shimmer were more obvious.

Grunge Me Tender

Two coats without top coat. That name... don't get me started. Anyway, a nice light green with silvery-green shimmer. I wouldn't say this is a suede finish, but whatever. What is a "suede" finish supposed to look like anyway? All I can think of when I hear "suede" is leather...

Madly Purpled

Two coats without top coat. A mauvy purple with silvery-blue shimmer. This is supposed be a matt finish, but I'd say it's more of a rubbery one. WELL.

Black To The Roots

Two coats without top coat. I had hoped this would be a really gritty texture, but it's not. The silver chunks are seemingly meant to provide the "rough" surface essence advertises. It's kind of cool but then again it's not really great? It reminds me of a studded leather jacket a little bit...

Any favorites?

[Swatch] Catrice - Purple Reign

Hey guys!

Today I'm showing you one of fifteen (!!) polishes I got from the new Catrice standard range.

Two coats with top coat. I like the idea of purple with blue shimmer, but the blue particles are a bit too big for my taste.

P2 - hot berry (over Maybelline - Hot Salsa)

Hey guys!

P2 starts summer off early, releasing a summer limited edition in March already. The colors are really vibrant and cool. This one I initially didn't think I'd like, but then I saw Marina's post on all five polishes from the LE and thought "Holy frigg, I need that red one!". So I went and got it - here, bask in the beauty!

Two coats over Maybelline - Hot Salsa, with top coat. It looked pretty at one coat already, but I wanted more of the gold-red shimmer, so I applied a second coat. The reason I have it on over Hot Salsa is that I had swatched that one beforehand and then thought "Why not paint directly on top? Might be good if the P2 polish doesn't have great coverage..." so that's what I did. I have yet to try hot berry on its own.

What do you think - head over heels or meh?
