Priti NYC - Lambs Ears (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

Our color of the week is khaki/olive - so technically two colors, but whatever, semantics - and luckily, I could find another polish of that family in my stash. You probably know by now that I tend to steer clear of muddy, brown-ish shades, simply because I'm not much into them. Anyway, I got this in a surprise package, and I kept it. As I said - luckily!

This is two coats with top coat. This dusty, grey-ish dark green is laced with silver shimmer. Not a favorite, really, but I still kind of like how it looks on me. I'll have to test it some more to determine whether I wanna keep it for good or not. And... Can you guess? The missing apostrophe irks me. Quite terribly.

wet n wild - Blue Wants to Be a Millionaire (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

I'm coming at you with another holo, this time in light blue, for our weekly Wednesday date!

A light blue with scattered holographic particles, this is four coats with top coat. As you can see it doesn't really reach full opacity on its own, but I quite like the look. Of course you could always layer it with another polish. I'm sorry I forgot to mention it - these photos are with flash, because it was already dark when I took them. So naturally (or rather unnaturally), the sparkle is quite obvious. With the weather continually being overcast, you won't have much chance to admire the holographic qualities of this beauty, sadly.

China Glaze "Hologlam Collection" - Galactic Gray (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

This week's theme is anthracite, and as you might know I love me some gray nails. Why? I don't know. In any case, whatever the motivation behind it, gray nail polish is my thing. Here we go with a quite special one...

Two coats with top coat. Top: Natural light indoors, center: sunlight, bottom: flash. Now if you'll excuse me, I gotta go change my label from "grey" to "gray".

essence Limited Edition "Kalinka Beauty" - nail polishes

Hey guys!

I have more LE things to show you today, this time from one of essence's current LEs - and isn't it a little crazy how they always have a few out at the same time? Anyway, here we go.

Absolut Blue

Two coats of this great dark blue, with top coat. This is very pigmented, goes on so nicely - wow. Easily my favorite, although it's not necessarily a special color. Also, the name drives me just a little bit crazy.

East Side Story

Two coats with top coat. This vibrant orange does have some quite noticeable (and pretty) gold shimmer in the bottle, but sadly, applied it mostly looks like a plain - though crazy! - orange. Sadface.

From Russia With Love

Again, two coats with top coat. Oh, just a moment, I have to get the phone. Yes, hello? What? Okay. Yeah. Yeah, okay. Bye. Guys, those were the nineties, they want their frosty apricots and pinks back. No, but seriously, this gives me a bit of a nineties vibe. Maybe they should've called it "From The 90ies With Love".

Green Scene

Two coats with top coat of this turquoise color. Again, not necessarily special, but nice quality.

P2 Limited Edition "Beauty Rebel" - nude love lipstick pencils and nail polish

Hey guys!

Hot off the shelves, so to speak, I bring you swatches of my picks from P2's current LE. I gotta say, I'm not sure how the name relates to anything they feature in the LE, but whatever.

nude love lipstick pencils

nude # 1

nude # 2

nude # 3

Three swipes each; they go on nicely and feel creamy. I would've done lip swatches, too, but my lips aren't in the best condition right now so I thought I'd better spare you. Also, can we all take a moment to appreciate the creativity behind those names? Beautiful! Creativity at its finest.

screamin' nail polish "bitter-sweet purple"

Two coats with top coat of this lilac color. It has fine silver shimmer and slightly bigger pinky-fuchsia-ish particles in it, but the latter are definitely invisible on the nail. Hell, it's even almost invisible in the bottle - I just discovered it actually, looking at the bottle again to see how fine the shimmer is, exactly.

lady like cut (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

I'm gonna be off to bed in a bit, but I wanted to get this out there today still, so here we go. I have to admit, I was a bit desperate this week. We are going for antique pink again and I just don't have many polishes of that shade - plus I don't want to repeat myself and show polishes I've already posted about again. So that's my apology...

The base color is "lady like", over which I put "a cut above", both by essie, and top coat - of course. I initially wanted to just use "lady like", but after applying it, I found it to be too grey-beige-ish to consider it pink enough. Covering it with "a cut above" was my act of desperation, trying to make this whole thing more fitting for the theme. Did I succeed? You decide...

Catrice Limited Edition "Celtica" - nail polishes

Hey guys!

I'm enjoying the last few hours of my day off and I wanted to share these polishes from a current Catrice LE with you before you can't get them anymore. I only have two of the total of four released with the LE, the other colors just weren't really up my alley. So let's see what I picked, shall we?

Paralilac

Two coats with top coat. This dark, brown-ish purple has mainly silver shimmer, but also a few specks of blue and pink here and there. You'll only notice the silver on the nail, though. Even with the shimmer, this is still subtle and kind of classy.

LOVEnder

Two coats with top coat of this pale lilac with strong grey undertones and silver sparkle. The sparkle is pretty much invisible on the nail, though it will peek through here and there. I like this one better than "Paralilac", but I have to say that in the end, neither of them really knocks my socks off.

cashmere and stones

Hey guys!

I wore this mani yesterday and today and really liked it, so of course I want to share with you - I think it looks quite classy and elegant, but the glitter gives it a nice extra something.

The base color is "cashmere bathrobe", two coats. Then I applied "set in stones", also by essie, on pointer and middle finger and sealed with top coat. I love this look! I also mattefied it before taking it off, but it didn't really change the appearance much.

[Swatch] essence Limited Edition ICE ice baby - Ice Skates On! and Icebreaker

Hey guys!

Today we're looking at two polishes from one of essence's current LEs together, so let's get right to it!

Ice Skates On!

Three coats with top coat. As you can see, this still isn't completely opaque at three coats. I was okay with the coverage at that point, but I'm not too fond of this not being opaque. I like the color, though and the shimmer is nice.

Icebreaker

Three coats with top coat. Just as Ice Skates On!, this isn't opaque even at three coats. I once again like the color and the shimmer (which is actually pink, unfortunately it's not so visible), but the coverage needs improvement. I guess layering both of these will help.

[Swatch] essie - No Place Like Chrome (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

This week we're looking at silver polishes, and though this one's name has the word "chrome" in it, I think it still counts...

One coat, with top coat. This has wonderful pigmentation to it and one slightly thicker coat was all I needed for perfect coverage. Unfortunately, especially metallic nail polishes always make the ridges in my nails awfully obvious, so here you have the ridge-y truth, lol! Since my last entry for silver was on the sheer side, this is a very nice contrast to it.
