essence "Cookies & Cream" Limited Edition nail polishes

Hey guys!

Today I'm presenting you one of essence's current LEs. The colors weren't all appealing to me, but for the price I thought "You know what? Eff it." and got them all to show you. So here we go!

Cakepop, That's Top!

Two coats with top coat. This is reminiscent of From Russia With Love, but it's even more 90ies in my opinion.

Yummy, Yummy!

A weird, blue-ish grey. Again, two coats with top coat. Not my thing. It made me think of China Glaze "Hook And Line", but I don't have it (what a surprise, right) to compare the two.

Last Night A Cookie Saved My Life

That name is priceless, really. Surprisingly, I like the color. Two coats with top coat. I thought this would be more of a reddish-brown, but it comes off much darker once applied, as you can see.

Macaron, C'est Bon!

Two coats with top coat. A really light pink that I quite like.

I also got the hand balm. It smells like vanilla and absorbs pretty quickly, so I like it. Mostly for the smell, though.

a shiny 10 (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

This week's theme is brown! You must all be tired of reading this, but I'll say it again because it's true: Brown is not really my favorite color. Some browns I do like, but it's still a bit of a rare creature in my stash. Anyway, here we go with my pick for this week!

First photo is one coat of Manhattan "10V" (getting really creative there, are we) over Rival de Loop Young "shiny bronze". In the second photo, I have two coats of "10V" applied. Both photos are with top coat. I liked this with just one coat over "shiny bronze" already, but with two coats, it got that wonderful depth to it - very pretty. I haven't tried it on its own, but you can probably build it up to a nice opacity. Let me know if you wanna see it without a base color underneath! This beauty was recently added to the standard range, so you should be able to find it easily if you have access to Manhattan products.

Catrice "Luxury Lacquers - Holomania" Limited Edition

Hey guys!

Today I'm showing you Catrice's take on holographic polishes! I'm purposefully not saying anything on the whole "You can get three of these at store x, but all four only at store y!" mess. Let's just get into it, shall we?
All of these are two coats with top coat and they have very good coverage. As opposed to other holos I've tried, these also don't drag quite as badly.

the fickle fiji thing (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

This week's theme is light pink! So I went really really light here. Like, really light. Seriously. Check it out.

Two coats with top coat. On pointer and ring finger, I have the new version of essie "fiji"; on the other two, I have the old version. I've complained about recycling names before, so I'm not gonna rant again now.

piCture pOlish - altered state

Hey guys!

I hope you're not yet sick to death of seeing the latest piCture pOlish multichromes. I got three of the five shades available and I'd like to show you the first one today. So let's get into it!

This is all one coat over black, with top coat. I put it on by itself first, but from the first coat I knew I would have an extremely hard time getting it opaque - if it would ever get to full opacity at all. It has a pretty strong shift - in the last photo, you can see the color range pretty well. I know these are Limited Edition, but I'm a little confused concerning the name of the LE. It seems to be LE or Limited Edition. Okay then...

Urban Dream

Hey guys!

Today I wanna share a combination with you that I tried on a whim and thought looked pretty cool. It's a bit of a weird combo, but I like it, and I hope you will, too!

Maybelline Color Show Street Artist Top Coat "Urban Vibe" over Anny "American dream" (two coats, Anny Goes Route 66 LE), plus top coat. Thoughts?

essence - ticket to the show (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

This week's theme is black! I don't have a huge selection here, but I managed to pick something nice - at least I think so. Let's check it out!

Two coats with top coat, this is with flash. In low light, this looks simply black. It has some very pretty shimmer though, as you can see! It reminds me a little of butter London's The Black Knight. They're quite different really, but still. Anyway, this is from one of essence's discontinued colour³ duos, that's why the bottle looks so weird - I took my duos apart to be able to store them more easily.

very... apricot? (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

Just before I can't anymore, I'm posting my apricot color. Oh boy, I'm increasingly late, ain't I? Anyway, let's see it!

This is essence "very cherry" (Fruity LE) at two coats with top coat. It didn't cover my visible nail line completely, but it was alright for me. This has an apricot base with pink glitter and silvery shimmer thrown in. Not really the color of cherries, but oh well.

uma cosmetics "Shine Bright" Limited Edition - champagne shine and royal shine

Hey guys!

So uma is a brand I don't show often, mainly because I don't have a lot of their polishes. They're only available to me at one specific store and their standard colors aren't too exciting. Anyway, I picked up two LE shades recently - and I'm really sad the third one, a gorgeous blue, was already sold out. Here we go!

champagne shine

This is two coats with top coat. It was more sheer than I'd expected, so maybe a third coat wouldn't hurt. It immediately reminded me of essie's beyond cozy - that one has better pigmentation, though.

royal shine

Again, two coats plus top coat. Also more sheer than expected, and I found it a little hard to get a smooth application. Again, I guess a third coat wouldn't hurt.

recycled marshmallow

Hey guys!

I have a little bit of a complaint here, and I know I'm not the only one. But let's see the polish first...

This is two coats with top coat of essence "hello marshmallow!". Sounds familiar? No wonder, because they have used that name before.

Now, most of us are probably familiar with name-recycling. Catrice has pulled some serious bs with "Sold Out For Ever", having released three different versions of it - so far. Why do cosmetics companies insist on recycling names? Not only does that cause confusion, it's also quite simply unnecessary. Are they too lazy to come up with new names? Are they too uncreative? We just don't know. These are two completely different nail polishes, and I think they each deserve a unique (at least to the essence range) name.

lacquerware

Hey guys!

Today I'm showing you a picture that I actually already took almost six months ago. Why? Because I wanted to participate in the 31 Day Challenge. That didn't happen, as you might know, since I didn't post anything for it. Anyway, I have found a way to make good use of this anyway: Cyw's motto month! February was dedicated to designs inspired by everything Asia, and this mani just so happens to fit that perfectly.

The base color is Illamasqua "Ruthless", an immensely pigmented, vibrant red with strong orange undertones. The stamping is done with Konad plate m24 and regular black nail polish. Although the red is too light, really, this reminds me of Chinese lacquerware. I know this is simple and cannot really be called nail art, but I quite like the simplicity of it.

some new essence spring/summer 2014 standard range polishes

Hey guys!

This post is gonna be really long, so let's jump right in! All of these are two coats with top coat, except for the sand polishes, those are - obviously - without top coat; with the glitter toppers, as usual, the number of coats you apply or the number of times you dip back into the bottle depends on how much glitter you want on your nails. So here we go!

be berry now!

love me, cupcake!

headphones on!

This is basically a non-sand version of here's my number. I don't really understand why they would do this, but well. If you'd like a comparison let me know!

Catrice "Une, Deux, Trois" Limited Edition - nail polishes

Hey guys!

Here we go with a look at this current Catrice LE. You know, the one with the weird name. What do you mean that's not helping?

Meet Cherry

Two coats with top coat. Not my favorite, but not a terrible color either.

Meet Berry

Again, two coats plus top coat. Again, not my favorite. I'm not a big fan of berry colors, simply because I think they don't look that great on me. This one's not too bad, though.

Meet Pinky

Two coats with top coat.

Meet Rosy

Two coats with top coat.

Meet Nudy

Two coats plus top coat. The unexpected favorite of the bunch, although it's still nothing exciting. I feel like it suits my skintone rather nicely.

Overall, I feel like this LE is kinda "blah" where nail polishes are concerned. In fact, the whole concept is a little boring to me, color-wise. And can I just say that I don't get why they used "une"?
