models own "Ice Neon" collection - Luis Lemon (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

We're starting the third round of "Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!" off with a bit of a bang, since Lena asked for yellow and I have quite the one for you here.

This is three coats with top coat. As you can see, it's still not fully opaque. Definitely easier to layer it over white. I know a lot of people hate that, but I want full color and full effect, so I prefer it sometimes. And I don't really mind.

In case you're wondering: I had to file my nails down because one of them ripped. I'm quite happy with the length I could save, though!

essie "haute in the heat" collection

Hey guys!

Now that we've got some dead horses out of the way, let's look at something a little fresher. Sorry if that sounds weird in a sentence together. Let's get into it, shall we?

urban jungle
We have three coats with top coat here. I need three coats quite often with polishes that have a lot of white in them, because I find it hard to get them smooth in two coats only.

fierce, no fear
While this is not typically my color, I kind of like it! Two coats were perfectly opaque; again, I used top coat.

roarrrrange
This is another three-coater (plus top coat). I feel like it's a little jelly-like in formula, so I guess it's more of a crelly than a classic creme. It's bright, but not too terrible on me, I think. I bet Dutchies would love this.

strut your stuff
A gorgeous, gorgeous color. It also needs three coats, but oh my, do I not care. Shown here with top coat. I would say the formula is about the same as that of "roarrrrange".

ruffles & feathers
I only needed two coats here, plus top coat. I quite like the color, but I'm not too into it.

haute in the heat
Again, two coats for full opacity. Again, I used top coat. By now you guys probably know I use top coat every single time, except with special finishes. Anyway, I love this bright color! It has a bit of a berry tone to it as well, which for me makes it a little more special than your standard bright pink.

Beating some dead Horses (aka products you've seen a million times already)

Hey guys!

Since I know the stuff I'm showing you today has already been talked about at large, I thought I'd just quickly throw them all together in one post with a few words on all of them...

Catrice "It Pieces" LE
Beautifying Lip Smoother
I got the shade "Cake Pop". It's a really light peachy color with some sparkle, comes off as almost nothing on my lips. I'm not blown away but I don't hate it. If you're trying to remember what this reminds you of, it's probably the Clarins "Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector".
Luxury Lacquers

It's Showtime

Let's Get Lost In Vegas

Lost'N Roses

Plum Fiction

My Big Green Wedding

These are in the same vein as the LE colors from a while back, I think "It's Showtime" might actually be exactly the same as "BRIGHTSmaid" - I haven't tested that theory, though. As far as I remember I used two coats for all of these, and no top coat.

labello Lip Butter in Blueberry Blush
A new flavor of the blogosphere's current hype product! For Americans this is a bit old news already, I believe, since the lip butters (marketed by Nivea in the States) have been out over there for a while already. For us here in Germany they're still fairly new, though. In Austria, there is a fifth flavor/scent that came out with this one: Coconut. I'm a little jelly, not gonna lie. Anyway, this does smell sort of blueberry-ish, though not necessarily all too natural. I haven't used it yet, but I suppose it isn't any different from "Raspberry Rosé" or "Vanilla & Macadamia", both of which I have in use at the moment.

Maybelline "Acid Wash" LE

Lilac Rebel

Mint-Acid-Ittude

Ripped-Tide

Bleached Blue

Some more hyped products, anyone? I feel like everyone and their mom has talked about these polishes already, but here's my two cents anyway. If I remember correctly (and it's very much possible that I don't) I used two coats for these photos, plus top coat. As you can see, though, some more wouldn't have hurt. Only "Bleached Blue" has good coverage, all the others are a streaky, sheer mess. I still like them, though. I have one more complaint though: Who was the one who tried so freaking hard with the puns? Seriously, "Mint-Acid-Ittude"? What?

Manhattan "Glowing Goddess" limited edition - Liquid Copper

Hey guys!

I saw this polish on Marina's blog and was lucky enough to find it in my local drugstore last week also, so I picked it up.

This is two coats with top coat, and they gave good coverage. I gotta say I'm not 100% convinced of how this looks on me. If I remember I'll try stamping with it.

deborah lippmann - Stronger (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

Today marks the end of the second round of my favorite weekly series. It also marks the end of Cyw's participation as an organizer of the series. She's pretty busy and I hope everything goes well for her, though of course I'm sad to see her "leave", so to speak. Anyway, just like last time, the theme is "bunt", or "colorful". I chose a really special polish for this...

ASDFGHJKLÖÄÜ, right? I have two coats here, with top coat (which is fairly useless because boy, this is a gritty one!). It's a bit difficult to apply because it's so loaded with glitter, but that's okay because AWESOME. The base is a blue jelly, by the way. Ever since I first saw this on Scrangie's blog, I knew I wanted it. I didn't really know where to get it, though, and I didn't really want to shell out 24.50 euros (that's around 33 US dollars...) for it. BUT I found it and when it went on sale on Niche Beauty, I couldn't resist any longer. And just recently I got a backup of it. Yep. Are you convinced I'm crazy yet?

[Haul] I was hypnotized

Hey guys!

Recently, there was a sale going on over at Hypnotic Polish and I took the chance to order my very first indie nail polishes! I'm pretty excited about those purchases, so I thought I'd show you what I got!

I thought the little note from Maria, the founder of Hypnotic Polish, was so lovely. That she would take the time to write this in what must've been a time of high stress just really positively surprised me. Since purple is my favorite color, I was immediately in love with the wrapping paper, lol! And the little heart sticker was really cute, too. Everything was perfectly securely packaged in bubble wrap!

A little extra I got, I think this is nail foil. I've never tried nail foils before, so I'm pretty excited to have gotten a sample of it!

So here's what I got. There were some more things I would've liked to put in my cart, but quite a few polishes were already sold out when word of the sale got around to me. But I spent enough as it is!

And last but not least: swatches! I'm actually wearing "Kaleidoscope Eyes" as I'm typing this, so prepare for a post about it in the near future.

Rival de Loop - 04 over essence "Wave Goddess trend edition" Have A Break

Hey guys!

When I swatched the Wave Goddess LE recently, I tried out this combo on a whim and quite liked it. I lovingly call these my Elsa nails.

This is two coats of each, with top coat. As you can see, 04 is actually a sand polish, but I didn't want the gritty finish this time.

essie "madison ave-hue collection" madison ave-hue (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

For magenta this week I have a bit of a weird pick. No, really, it's not necessarily the first thing that would come to mind when you think "magenta". But I hope you'll agree that it still falls somewhere in the right category. Anyway, here we go.

Here we have two coats with top coat. The more I look at it the more I think this fits in with the whole Radiant Orchid trend. I also think it looks kinda terrible on me.

Rival de Loop "Luxury Nail Collection" Plum Parade (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

Today we're looking at my pick for the color aubergine/eggplant! I think this one is really pretty, so here goes.

Two coats here, with top coat. It goes on pretty unevenly and I had trouble smoothing it out. As per usual when I have that problem, the space near the cuticle is a little patchy. You'd have to look really closely to see that, though, so it's whatever to me.

P2 "WILD Me uP!" limited edition - flashy

Hey guys!

I recently saw the display for this LE, apparently freshly set up. After a moment's consideration I decided to pick up only one color, though, so here it is!

This is a super pigmented color. That being said, I have a hard time remembering if this is one or two coats. There's definitely top coat involved. I'm sorry guys, but just let me say that this went on nicely and with great opacity. If you're looking for or just always loving a great pink, give this a shot if you can.

essence "Wave Goddess" limited edition

Hey guys!

Fresh from the shelves of one of my local drugstores I present this LE to you!It really makes me want to go to the beach... Anyway, let's see the colors.

Loose Your Heart On The Board
No comment on that name... Two coats with top coat of this bright pink. Formula is sort of goopy, not the easiest to get smooth. Thankfully, top coat can be a real savior in such cases!

Wave Down The Lime
Again, kinda goopy in formula but alright with two coats plus top coat. I think you can see how uneven it looks. It has a silvery shimmer. I can't quite decide whether I think this is green or yellow...

Have A Break
Have a Kit Kat
Better formula here; two coats with top coat as well. This one also has silver shimmer. I really like the color!

Crush On Blue
Also better formula on this one, two coats with top coat look just fine. Lovely deep blue with silver shimmer.

Overall, I really like the vibrant colors! Formula was a bit weird on the first two, but well. I didn't get the thermo top coat because I wasn't wowed by the effect, which I'd already seen on HungryNails.

misslyn "Galaxy Nails" limited edition

Hey guys!

I don't think I've mentioned it before, but I'm into sci-fi and everything space is really interesting to me. So I was pretty thrilled at the idea of a space-themed nail polish LE - what a surprise, right? Naturally I had to buy everything in sight, so here's the full LE for you!

mars
Here's the first color, and I already have an issue with it. As you might know, Mars' nickname is "Red Planet". But this is orange. Why? In any case, this is two coats with top coat. You will still be able to see some nail line, but it was okay for me at this point.

venus
Okay, here I know I'm influenced by Sailor Moon, but still. For me, Venus is orange. Not to say I don't like this color, it's pretty - but why pink and gold? Two coats with top coat as well here. I don't think this would reach complete opacity on its own, so I would layer it. Over what, though, I don't really know.

orbit
This one I found to have a tricky formula, so I applied three coats and top coat to get it to look smooth. It still seemed patchy, though, so I'm not too impressed, although it's a beautiful color.

atmosphere
Though similar in formula to "orbit", this one only required two coats plus top coat. It wasn't as patchy, so I was able to smooth it out quite nicely on the second coat. Now that that's out of the way, LOOK AT THAT COLOR SHIFT (also, you can see how super thin my nails are, haha...). I'm so blown away by it, it's so pretty I could squeal. I'm wearing this right now, layered over "after school boy blazer" by essie - perfect! One coat is absolutely sufficient when you're layering this, and it looks gorgeous.

gold moondust
This is two coats without top coat to preserve the bumpy finish. Silver sparkle and gold glitter in a clear base - love it!

satellite war
Again, two coats without top coat here. Silver sparkle and blue and green glitter in a clear base. I don't love it as much as "gold moondust", but it's still pretty.

I feel like all of these, except for the two glitter bombs, should be layered over a creme polish to not only make application easier but also to make them look smoother. I'm debating purchasing backups of some of these because I'm just so in love with the colors... Yep, I'm truly craycray - don't worry, I know, I really do.

OPI - Can't Find My Czechbook (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

I had every intention to post this on Wednesday, but then a major case of "I really don't want to sit down and do this right now" happened, and I didn't post anything. It still irks me, but I guess I'll live. This week's theme is turquoise!

I think this was two coats (with top coat). I feel like I was having difficulty getting this to be smooth, but I can't quite remember. As I'm typing this I'm gripped by anxiety (as per usual) because the longer I look at this, the less turquoise it seems to me. It is, if you still want to consider it in the spectrum, at the lighter end, definitely.

L'Oréal Top Coats Confettis - Splash Peach, Oulala Blue, Graffiti D'Amour

Hey guys!

Remember the black and white topper we got from L'Oréal last year? Well, for this year they ventured into colorful territory and released three new glitter toppers. Let's check them out!

Splash Peach (over essence - On The Road Again)
Shown here with top coat. It's a little difficult to get the glitter distributed somewhat evenly. The glitter-to-base-polish-ratio is not quite as I would want it, but not as bad as with some other glitter toppers.

Oulala Blue (over essence - I Don't Care! I Love It!)
Also shown with top coat, same application as for "Splash Peach".

Graffiti D'Amour (over essence - Hit The Road, Red!)
Again, with top coat and some difficulty of getting even glitter distribution.

Overall, I have to admit I'm not super wowed. If you have any suggestions on what to do with these let me know!
