Flower Power (Mottomonat März: Blütenzauber)

Hey guys!

Just like last month I wanna participate in Cyw's motto month again, and this time we're looking at a flower design. I used a plethora of stuff for this, so let's get into it...

I actually did two designs, or styles, because... well, I was inspired! So let me tell you what all of this is.

On my pointer and middle finger nails are the Thumbs Up nail wraps in "Aloha". I wasn't too happy with them because they didn't fit my nails very well at all. They are pretty, though.

As a base for the other nails I used one of p2's new Metal Reflection polishes called "green grunge", which is a dark, olive-y green with pink shimmer. It also has a multichrome to it and I think it's pretty cool. Unfortunately, it's also pretty sheer. I used three coats, I think, and a fourth wouldn't have hurt, but I was going to put stuff over it anyway, so it didn't matter all that much to have 100% perfect opacity - and it was good enough at three coats anyway.

Now for the arty bits... I did the white triangle with just white polish and striping tape. The flower charm is from the essence nail art 3D jewels set "to love".

On the second picture I changed it up a bit and added a black triangle (again with the help of striping tape), swapped the flower charm for white half spheres and did an additional flower design on my pinky nail, which you can find a tutorial for in this video by one of my favorite YouTubers. The flowers are again done with just black and white polish plus Glam Polish "Welcome to the 60's" for the dots in the middle.

essence - hidden garden (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

The third round of "Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!" has come to an end and just like the two last rounds, we finish off with multi-colored epicness!

This one is a little strange in that it doesn't really have a colored base, it's just microshimmer and glitter. If the light hits it right, it looks like it has a gold base, but at some angles you can see that the base is transparent and colorless (in the photo you can kinda tell). Anyway, here we have three thicker coats with top coat. I love this polish, it's so pretty! I think it would be even better with a gold polish as a base underneath.

P2 - young miss (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

I'm gonna get my pick for antique pink in before we have Wednesday again - round three (!) of "Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!" ends tomorrow, or rather next Tuesday. Crazy how we've gone through another round already! Anyway, here we go.

Two coats and top coat. I took this picture relatively late, so it seems quite dark. The color is a bit lighter in real life, and for me it fits the bill just perfectly.

misslyn - grey noblesse (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

I don't really have much to say today, so let's just see my pick for pigeon blue (or powder blue), shall we?

Two coats and top coat. The texture of this felt a bit gloopy to me and thus was a little harder to work with. Thus, I feel it looks strange here. The photo is not my best, either - it's too dark, really, and not completely in focus. I can only apologize. Pretty color, though - right?

essence - little lila town (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

Today I'm sharing my pick for lilac, which is a color I absolutely love. Incidentally, it's also a scent I really like.

I think this is two coats? Oh dear, I already forgot - I'm so sorry. I also put top coat on, in any case. In the bottle, you can see a pinky-purplish shimmer, but it doesn't translate onto the nail. Which, I gotta admit, I'm not too sad about.

Sie hat die Haare schön... (hair care)

Hey guys!

Remember when I told you about that deep cleaning shampoo I use? Well, things have changed a little since then, and I want to let you know about that as well.

I'm gonna go and give you some facts on my hair, in case you don't wanna read my old post first, which I totally understand.
So here's a nice bullet-point list for you:
  • dark brown
  • long
  • greasy
  • dandruff-prone

For quite a while I used head & shoulders, but at some point I felt like it wasn't doing anything for me anymore. I started using the Balea Tiefenreinigung Shampoo after that, and as you can read in my post on it, I was quite happy with it.

I can't actually remember what persuaded me to try out my new favorite; I got a trial kit with two minis each of shampoo and conditioner from brands4friends and really liked the results. So what is that magic stuff you ask? It's the The Body Shop Rainforest Balance shampoo. I don't like using conditioner so didn't get the full size of that, but I did get one of the shampoo.

After using it without conditioner, though, I got the impression that my hair felt dry and strawy even while it was still wet, so I decided to re-moisturize with a hydrating shampoo. Since I always lather up my hair twice anyway it was a good solution for me.

On the right you can see the The Body Shop Rainforest Balance shampoo, which is the one I use first. On the left is the Balea hydrating shampoo, which I use to put the moisture back in my hair.

The Body Shop Rainforest Balance shampoo
content: 250 ml/8.45 fl oz
(I have a supersize bottle here which is 400 ml/13.5 fl oz. I got it off limango and I don't think it's commonly available.)
price: EUR 7.00/~ USD 7.85

(As you can see the "no sulphates" claim on the front label is a total lie...)

Balea Feuchtigkeits Shampoo
content: 300 ml/~ 10.14 fl oz
price: EUR 0.65/~ USD 0.73

The Balea shampoo was just re-designed and now comes in a new scent:
The new scent is peach and coconut, which I look forward to trying out. Content and price point remained the same.

In my quest to find the perfect partner to my The Body Shop shampoo I purchased two more hydrating shampoos I will try out.

left: Nivea hydro care; right: herbal essences hello hydration
Nivea hydro care
content: 250 ml/8.45 fl oz
price: EUR 1.95/~ USD 2.19

herbal essences hello hydration
content: 250 ml/8.45 fl oz
price: EUR 1.55/~ USD 1.74
I can only recommend trying the The Body Shop shampoo for yourself if you have greasy hair. Whether or not you will want to use a hydrating shampoo with it is of course up to you and your mane. I am aware that it is quite pricey (though obviously prices can vary depending on where you live and where you buy), but the result justifies the price tag for me.

Unfortunately, I still have a whopping big bottle of head & shoulders to use up as well. I might just throw it in the mix, as I'm currently doing with my other "leftover": a bottle (tube?) of the Balea Tiefenreinigungs Shampoo. I just use that every now and then when I feel like I left my hair to its own greasy devices for too long. That means lathering my hair up three times, but it doesn't seem to mind.

I hope this was helpful to you in some capacity - let me know if you wanna hear about anything else aside from nail polish! (Of course requesting something nail-related is always fine, too :)
