essence "Aquatix" - Under The Sea (Blue Friday)

Hey everyone,

I have a bit of a treat for you, since we're looking at a holo! And I didn't have to pay upwards of 10 bucks for it, so that's a win in my book.

Aah, it's so nice. And pretty old, too - about 1.5 years. I'd say two to three coats and it's good to go.
This is with top coat, as (almost!) always.

CbL Colors by Llarowe - Opals & Lace (over Rest in Pieces; Wir lackieren...)

Hello everyone,

Here we are for the grand finale! It combines holo and glitter, and really, it doesn't get much better than that, don't you think?

I applied one coat of Opals & Lace here. However, I did have to swirl my brush around quite a bit to get enough glitter out for my liking. As you can see, I also only got one big glitter piece.
The base is very liquid and thus runny, which, at least for me, doesn't make application easier.
I do really like the glitter mix in here, though, so I can mostly forgive the formula.

Catrice - First Class Up-Grape (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hello everyone,

This week we're looking at eggplant or aubergine tones, and I immediately found a great fit in my "unblogged" folder for that!

Isn't it pretty? I'm gonna guess-timate that it needs two to three coats for opacity, but for me,
it's worth doing three coats! Shown with top coat, as usual.

CbL Colors by Llarowe - She's My Cherry Pie (Wir lackieren...)

Hello everyone,

This is a juicy one. You'll understand when you see the photos...

Two coats and top coat, and perfection. Look at that color! It's glowing from within.
I just thought that it reminds me of black cherry juice. Gorgeous!

CbL Colors by Llarowe - Rest in Pieces (Wir lackieren...)

Hey everyone,

We're not stopping with the holo just yet - don't say I didn't warn you!

Another two-coater here, and of course it's with top coat. I can't with this polish. I just can't.

Catrice "Rock-O-Co" - Lilas Bleus (Blue Friday)

Hi everyone,

Today for Blue Friday I'm showing you another polish from the same LE that this week's pick for "Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!" came from. Both of these are just over a year old... wow.

I feel like this was doing pretty well coverage-wise, so I'm gonna say two coats should be good.
No top coat here, as it's a satin type of finish!

CbL Colors by Llarowe - Elegance (Wir lackieren...)

Hi everyone,

We're taking a break from holo today, but not from awesomeness! It's a glitter polish.

This needs three coats and is shown with top coat. The mix of glitter and shimmer here is very unique in my opinion, and let's not forget those flakes! As you can see, it has a very obvious brown and green duochrome going on. For some reason, this reminds me of reptilians. Don't even try to ask.

Catrice "Rock-O-Co" - Apricoco (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hello everyone,

I felt quite lucky to find this swatch sitting in my folder, because it meant I wouldn't have to look for another polish that would fit the apricot theme. Yep, that's me!

I'm thinking this was only two coats and no top coat, I feel like the polishes from this LE had pretty good coverage. Excuse the blob on my ring finger nail, I made a dent in the wet polish and had to patch it up.

CbL Colors by Llarowe - Intrigue (Wir lackieren...)

Hello everyone,

More holo! I really don't have much else to say.

Two coats and top coat for this one. It has a bit of a red tone to it in addition to the purple which makes it very interesting in my opinion.

essie - find me an oasis (Blue Friday)

Hi everyone,

I'm keeping it up with the posts, someone pat me on the back please. I unearthed another old swatch for this, and you probably have heard of this polish a million times already.

I'm assuming I used three coats here, as usual with pastels, and top coat. I do really like how these soft colors look, but sometimes they can be a pain to apply.

CbL Colors by Llarowe - Anna's Adventure (Wir lackieren...)

Hello everyone,

Who would've thought, I have another holo for you today! It came to me via Elena's blogsale quite a long time ago now.

I applied two coats here, and if I were extremely picky, I would apply a third to see if it would cover that last little bit of visible nail line I could make out still after the second one.
Top coat's on as well, as usual (you know the drill by now, I suppose).
Now here's my gripe with this polish: It stains. And yes, I do use base coat, always. When I wore this for the first time and took it off after two days or so, my nails were clearly tinted red and it wouldn't come off.
If you only keep it on for, let's say, 20 minutes, it will still stain but not as badly and you can get the residue off with nail polish remover, as far as I could tell.

As you can see, this is still in the old bottle (I have four of those), and the reason I'm mentioning that is this:

Most of the holographic pigment ("spectraflare" I believe it's called) settles after a little while. And I don't mean months or even days, it can do so within a few hours. Thankfully, shaking it quite vigorously for about two minutes (assuming you'll have to stop for a second to relax your arm and hand a few times) will mix the pigment back in.

Manhattan "Retro Glam" - Dive In (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hi everyone,

We're looking at petrol today, and I've got another old photo for you, from nearly two years ago. You're probably beginning to wonder how many more of those I have stored away in the depths of my hard drive, and, well... Let's just say there's lots more. I'm just gonna try to use as many of them as I can in all the series I've foolishly set myself up to participate in, and then I might just lump the rest into a few "blast from the past" sort of posts. Let me know what you think, peeps!

I'm guessing that this might've been two coats, with top coat. I took a second photo to show the shimmer more.

CbL Colors by Llarowe - Cabaret (Wir lackieren...)

Hey everyone,

Today, I have a non-holo polish for you. But it is a glitter. Actually, let me just admit it now: I don't have a single nail polish from CbL that's not holo or glitter. There, I said it.

I needed three coats for opacity, simply because the base is really sheer. I would say the glitter makes it busy enough for it to be okay at two coats, however I wasn't quite pleased with what I saw just yet. Top coat was also applied, as per usual with polishes that don't have any sort of special finish.

Catrice - Blue And A Half Men (Blue Friday)

Hey everyone,

I am participating in yet more series! Blue Friday is pretty much exactly what it says on the tin: Showing a blue nail polish every week, starting on Friday. Thankfully the post doesn't have to come out on Friday exactly, so people with OCD-tendencies like me can post on a day of their choosing. Anyway, I am continuing to use up old swatches (lots more of these to come!) here; this one is just about 1.5 years old.

I'm thinking this needed three coats (plus top coat). If you look closely at the "starting point" of the polish near my cuticle, you can sort of make out that the base seems quite sheer and the shimmer is really the only thing that provides coverage. That said, I do love the tone of this polish.

CbL Colors by Llarowe - Aubergine Dreams (Wir lackieren...)

Hello everyone,

Today I've got the second CbL polish in my collection to show you, and it's a gorgeous one! Just like Mocha Grande, this one's a holo.

Two coats with top coat. Just a second, gotta wipe away that drool. It's no secret that purple is my favorite color, so of course I love this one. I also have to say, though, that there is another polish I go even more bananas for yet to come in this series...

Catrice - Get Boho In SoHo (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hello everyone,

I've dug out another old photo for today. How old is it exactly? Well, just under a year. And to clarify, these photos are not reposts or anything of that sort, they're simply photos I took and never got around to bringing to the blog. So here we go!

I'm pretty sure it took three coats, first because it's white and second because it's a matte. For me, that means riding the struggle bus to smooth city.

CbL Colors by Llarowe - Mocha Grande (Wir lackieren...)

Hi everyone,

We're continuing the second series on here with CbL, or Colors by Llarowe. The other brand Lotte and Tine chose for this month is essie, but let's just be real, I have no chance of going through all my essie untrieds in one month. That'd be like a multi-month series. However, with CbL, it's a much easier job!

This is two coats with top coat. The first photo is with flash, the second one I climbed around in my bathroom for, trying to get the spotlights as close to my nails as possible to get a shot that wouldn't have a super long exposure time (and thus be blurry). The flash photo definitely shows the color better, but the holo looked so nice on the second one that I had to include it as well. In low light, this just looks like a dark brown with shimmer.
