Catrice "Rock-O-Co" - L'Ombre À Sanssouci (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey everyone,

I think it's fair to say that gray is one of my favorite colors to wear on my nails, and it has been from the beginning. Even though my taste has vastly diversified over the years, gray polish is still quite high up there. And if you're asking yourself if you remember right, well, you probably do.

I think two coats should be good with this. I love gray shades like this one a lot - slightly blue-toned, and just very elegant-looking in my opinion. I didn't use top coat here as this dries to something akin to a rubber finish.

OPI "Touring America" - Road House Blues (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hi everyone,

I didn't have a swatch in my neverending vault for navy blue, so I prepared one yesterday. I actually have shown this polish twice already, but I think we can all agree that an update doesn't hurt. I mean look at those posts! I've truly come a long way, don't you think?

I used three coats on my pointer and middle finger and four on my ring and pinky finger nails. The two latter had a patch each, I think due to me not being very diligent (and also sort of polishing in the dark) and I just had to fix that. I think usually it should be good at three coats if you apply thin layers like me, or two if you apply thick coats. I added top coat, as usual.

Catrice - Blurred Limes (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hi everyone,

While I have said before that I own this polish, I've never actually shown it. Well, it gets its moment of glory now, almost 1.5 years later.

I think this will be fine at two coats. However, I have to warn you: This stains like a motherfluffer. I still remember that I had to grow out the weird-looking green tinge, which I didn't appreciate at all. The fine silver shimmer is barely visible on the nail. As per usual, I finished off with top coat.

Catrice "Net Works" nail polishes

Hey everyone,

Let me start off with something negative, 'cause that's always fun: I'm kinda confused by this limited edition. I will go into more detail at the end, for now let's see the shades.

M-Ashy

I applied three coats and top coat. The color is nice, more or less a staple neutral. I'm thinking I found it a bit patchy, but I made no notes of that, so I'm afraid I can't tell you for sure.

Mashed Peach

Now this one I did note the patchiness of. I used three coats again, even considered a fourth due to the patches. Top coat helped hide them a bit, and I guess I should just really start using a good ridge-filling base coat.

Nude NETisfaction

Another neutral, though lighter and more rosy instead of brownish. Unfortunately, the formula was much the same for me as Mashed Peach's, where I applied three coats and considered four due to patchiness. Once again, top coat came to the rescue.

Mint Mashup

After the other polishes having been a bit of a letdown formula-wise, I tried changing up my routine here. I applied two coats, making sure that the second was thicker and thus could help with the patches. I added top coat, as usual.

Green NETtraction

I would recommend three to four coats for this, and make the final layer a thicker one. I personally apply quite thin coats, so I often need more to get the coverage others who apply thicker coats can get with less layers. I do enjoy the color and the subtle shimmer.

Now let me just kinda rant for a moment here. My gripe isn't even with the formula(s) of these, that's way too dependent on application method and all. I'm more confused by the concept of this LE. The two neutrals look very similar to one another (I nearly got them mixed up when I prepared this post), as do the mint/green shades. And then, right in the middle of it all, is a peach tone. What? In the end I don't really care, I just don't get it.

6. Was machst du in Sachen Nagelpflege?

5. Schreibe diese Regeln in deinen Liebster-Award-Blog-Artikel.
6. Informiere deine nominierten Blogger über den Blog-Artikel.

Catrice - Be My Violetine (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hello everyone,

For this week I've unearthed yet another old swatch. Nearly two years have passed since I took this photo! Time sure does fly ever more quickly. In hindsight, anyway.

As usual I'm guesstimating here, but I'm gonna say you would need two coats of this. I added top coat, as usual.

skittelette and stamping with Born Pretty Store plate BP-10 [PR sample]

Hey everyone,

This is the final post in my little Born Pretty Store review series. This stamping plate I had seen before and immediately felt the need to own it. I mean come on, inspired by Sailor Moon? Sign me up!

I didn't receive any sort of compensation to talk about the five products I showed you, however the products themselves were provided to me for free. None of the links included in this post are affiliate links. If you have any questions pertaining to the topic of transparency and PR on my blog I would be happy to answer them, just leave a comment or contact me via email (see the "Impressum" tab on the blog, you can find the address there).

Lovely Mixed Star & Moon Stamping Template
While more of a special occasion type of plate, I am indeed happy to have it at hand.

Having played around with the essence "Juice It!" limited edition jellies, I decided to use all four of them as base for the stamping here. I had intended to use gold for the stamping, but only managed to get it done on my pinky finger nail. After that, I couldn't seem to get the image to pick up completely anymore, so I thought switching to black would help. However, that was only partly true. I needed quite a few tries before I got to what you're about to see in the next photo, and I don't know why.

As before, I used the clear jelly stamper I won in Marina's giveaway. I don't have any idea why the image wouldn't pick up onto the stamper correctly; I have to say after a while it became quite frustrating. Thus, unfortunately, I can't show you a perfect stamping here. As usual, I finished with top coat.

lovey-dovey stamping with Born Pretty Store plate QA86 [PR sample]

Hey everyone,

As explained before, I recently received some Born Pretty Store products to review. I mainly wanted this plate because I love snowflake designs, but as you'll see, I ended up having my creativity grab a hold of the heart motifs instead.

I didn't receive any sort of compensation to talk about these five products, however the products themselves were provided to me for free. None of the links included in this post are affiliate links. Stamp Template Cute Snow Heart
I think the snowflakes will be put to use once winter rolls around.

For some reason I thought I should try out a pond manicure, which, if you don't know what that is, I suggest checking it out, people have come up with some amazing designs using that technique. So I grabbed a jelly from right in front of me and went to town. Unfortunately, as you're about to see, the jelly I had chosen was a bit too opaque for the whole thing to really work all that well, but that's okay.

Once again I used the clear jelly stamper I won in Marina's giveaway. Just like with the previous plate, I had no trouble picking up the motif and transferring it to my nails. Upon applying the final coat of the jelly polish (essence "I Love You Cherry Much"), I realized that it was a bit too opaque, really, but it came out fine enough for a first try, anyway, in my opinion.

space nail art with Born Pretty Store zodiac water decals [PR sample]

Hey everyone,

As mentioned in a previous post, I recently received some Born Pretty Store products to review, and this was among them. I couldn't quite contain my excitement when I saw that they had space-themed decals, as you might be able to imagine if you've been here for a while.

I didn't receive any sort of compensation to talk about these five products, however the products themselves were provided to me for free. None of the links included in this post are affiliate links. If you have any questions pertaining to the topic of transparency and PR on my blog I would be happy to answer them, just leave a comment or contact me via email (see the "Impressum" tab on the blog, you can find the address there).

Zodiac Water Decals Constellations Pattern
Constellations, stars... need I say more?

Because I thought it would look great as background, I started off with a very easy galaxy mani. For that I applied a black base and, using something akin to the dry brush method, added a bit of all six of the El Corazón Universe collection polishes, which are multichrome holographics: Andromeda Nebula, The Pleiades, Orion Trapezium cluster, Omega Centauri, Evening Venus and Virgo Stellar Stream. The outcome was quite beautiful in my opinion:

The process of using water decals is always the same: Remove covering foil (if you remember to do so right at the start, which I never seem to do), cut out desired bits of the decal, stick them into water, apply to nail. These were easy to handle, in principle, anyway; since I'm still quite inexperienced with water decals, I had a bit of a steep learning curve when composing this design. Here's what I came up with in the end - though you've actually already seen it above. Since I'm a Capricorn, I tried to use mostly what I think are the corresponding symbols for this sign.

I think the multichrome aspect of the base polishes makes for an interesting background. Anyway, the two constellations seem to be random and I'm not sure they really exist. Come to think of it, the symbol for Capricorn might be mirrored; I'm not sure, though, I'm really not that great with astrology.

As you can see (mostly in the last picture), the bigger decal bit on my pinky finger is smudged, which happened when I applied my final top coat. I had too little polish on the brush, causing it to drag over the decal and thus smearing it all over the place. I learned my lesson immediately and made sure to load up the brush properly for the other nails, which solved the problem.

What do you think of this? In hindsight, I think I used too many of the constellation and star decals, making the nails look a bit overloaded. I just couldn't stop myself! And I have to say I'm pretty proud of my super easy galaxy nails.

Catrice "Luxury Lacquers Million Brilliance" - BRIGHTsmaid (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey everyone,

I didn't have much hope that I would find a photo of a silver polish in my vault, but guess what, I did. This one is over two years old! Unbelievable. My nails... oh boy.

These Million Brilliance Lacquers do not have any sort of opaque base, and usually you will apply three coats and still see your nail line, from some angles anyway. They are very sparkly, though, so it might not be quite as much of an unnerving sight as with other finishes. Top coat can be considered an absolute necessity for this, if only to keep the glitters from getting stuck on everything. I applied some, of course.
