essence "midnight Masquerade" - Meet Me Midnight (Blue Friday)

Hello everyone,

In the flurry of fall, early winter and holiday limited editions, essence released two real gems, one of which I would like to show you today for "Blue Friday".

I found this to be easily opaque in two coats. It's filled to the brim with shimmer particles, which are brought out even more with top coat, which of course I added here. And that color shift is just so pretty... and more visible in real life, I should add, or with better lighting than I had here.

misslyn - me tarzan (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey everyone,

Some more throwback today! I didn't think I'd have a swatch ready to go for orange, but I did, and it's so old... we're talking summer of 2014 here.

I would assume this needs two to three coats, and as (almost) always I probably added top coat.

Nivea Seiden mousse creme care shower foam [PR sample]

Hello everyone,

Being subscribed to the Rossmann blogger newsletter, I had the chance to try out a handful of products so far - the last one I covered was the complete RdeL Young "Beach Love" limited edition, which was pretty cool. I've also received a Dove shower cream thing before which I never reviewed because 1. I'm an idiot and 2. I used it up and threw the bottle away and then didn't know what to do besides feel ashamed and guilty. So with this Nivea shower foam I told myself that this time, things would go so much better. And then they kinda didn't, but at least we're here now, right? Right?!

I suppose most of us are familiar with shower foams by now, though I have to admit that this is the first one I've used. The directions are simple enough, though, so no problems there. Shake it, spray it, spread it, rinse it off - all done.

The foam feels soft and smooth on the skin. To me, it doesn't have the famous Nivea cream smell that is such a fond childhood memory for many. It smells... floral and creamy? Kinda like a nice-smelling granny? Okay, yeah, no. I don't really know how to describe it much better, I'm afraid.

I'm also not 100% sure what to use shower foams for - I feel weird using them instead of shower gel/body wash, but I think they'd be wasted as a simple shaving gel/foam replacement. So far, I've just been using the Nivea foam as a last step before getting out of the shower, an extra bit of pampering I guess. If you have tips please let me know!

essence - ice fairy over misslyn - my pleasure (Blue Friday)

Hello everyone,

I gotta head out the door in four minutes, so let's do this! I should really participate more in "Blue Friday", what with blue being basically my second favorite color after purple. This is, however, I think the last picture of a blue polish from the vault. Aren't you glad about that?

I didn't use top coat here, but it would probably look great. The misslyn polish is responsible for most of the blue color here, even though, as you can see, ice fairy also has a blue sparkle to it. I don't remember my pleasure being particularly sheer, so I think it was good in two coats. It is a metallic sort of polish, though, so 1. not my favorite and 2. it will show brushstrokes.

Orly - Smoked Out (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey everyone,

Remember when I participated in stuff and made posts besides the ones for this series? Yeah, me neither. In any case, I originally swatched this for "Wir lackieren..." but then never got around to posting it because of my terrible time management-skills.

I'm pretty sure I used two to three coats here. This is the matte version, the polish dries to that finish if you don't add top coat. I've found that on longer nails, I tend to need more coats sometimes, especially with matte polishes.

And of course I couldn't resist top coating this. Look at that depth! I am aware this polish is more on the blue-ish side of dark green, but it just reminds me so much of a really deep coniferous forest somewhere far up north that I couldn't resist using it for this week's theme.

p2 "Brave And Beautiful" - dark forest (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey everyone,

I've already shown two other polishes from this same limited edition, both also for "Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!". I have to say that I really enjoyed the collection overall, looking back; at the time, I wasn't all that thrilled. In any case, this seemed like a nice fit for purple.

You may or may not be able to make it out in the photo, but this polish has a slightly jelly-like formula. It should work out fine for you in two or three coats. Of course I added top coat as well - gotta get that shine on, peeps!

essence - sparkle in a bottle (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey everyone,

I'm sure you can't believe I still keep pulling old photos out of my proverbial hat, but I am. Here's my contribution for silver for this week.

The base here is clear, and there's not a ton of it, so building this up shouldn't be too difficult at all. I'm gonna say this is probably three coats, and the sparkle is enough to cover some potential bald bits, though they are quite small anyway, in my opinion. I'm not sure if I added top coat - due to the gritty texture, I can't actually tell. The bigger glitters are not silver, by the way, but pink. I think.

Catrice "kaviar gauche" 2016 nail polishes

Hello everyone,

Catrice have once again collaborated with fashion label kaviar gauche to create a limited edition collection for fall. As usual, the colors are fairly classic and a bit ethereal... let's take a look.

Nude Sublime

I used three coats and top coat. It was a little streaky for me but not unworkable at all.

Nuit Fleurie

This is two coats with top coat. I love this kind of shade.

Fleur Du Soir

I expected this to be streaky and more jelly-like, but it was nice and perfect in two coats - I might have been a little more generous than usual with the second one, though, to achieve that. I added top coat, as usual.

Rose D'Or

I'm not sure what to make of this one. It's very sheer, and I think it's probably meant more for a French mani or just to sort of perfect your nails, make them look clean and polished. This is three coats, but it didn't look all that different at two coats, and really, it's never gonna be opaque either way. Top coat's on, too.
